Overview

Despite being so strong, this Fighter is likely to be overlooked due to being released alongside novelties like SP WC Hercule RED. But SP DK Piccolo YEL stands out from the crowd.

His stats are exceptional and well-rounded, he has a game-changing Main Ability that can steal Dragon Balls from the Enemy Team, his Unique Abilities are great for controlling Enemy Switching, and he holds one of the very rare Poison inflicting Strike Cards.

What really makes the release of this Fighter so exciting, however, is the fact that he’s part of the Regeneration Tag. This means could very well mean another shift in the Meta away from the Saiyan powerhouse.

Strengths

Tactical Switching

SP DK Piccolo YEL has two very powerful Unique Abilities that are all about switching him in and keeping Enemy switching to a minimum. Anytime This Fighter enters the match, the Enemy Fighter has to stay in combat for 15 timer counts, or they will receive +2 to their substitution count.

This may not seem like much, but tactically it’s fantastic for giving the Player freedom to switch in new Fighters at will while when the Enemy Player can do the same--this is especially valuable in PVP.

On top of this, SP DK Piccolo YEL benefits from staying in combat for only 15 timer counts or switching out whenever the Enemy Team switches because he is healed for 15 counts every time he enters the Match.

SP DK Piccolo is self-sufficient while also putting the Enemy at a massive disadvantage.

Fantastic Melee Fighter

Stat wise, this Fighter doesn’t have any outstanding drawbacks. He’s a Melee Fighter, but he can still more than hold his own if all he’s got in his hand are Blast Cards. If He does keep drawing bad Cards, SP DK Piccolo YEL’s Extra Move is specifically for re-shuffling the deck while also getting a nice Boost to Strike Damage while he’s at it.

This blends especially well with his two Strike Arts Cards--one of which inflicts Poison--in terms of tactical combat. This is the type of Fighter who can switch in and stay strong for a long time with self-sustaining Unique Abilities, long Strike Combo bursts, and a rage-inducing Main Ability.

Weaknesses

Limited Z-Ability

Depending on whether or not Dragon Ball Legends maintains this trend of releasing Regeneration Fighters, this may not remain a weakness to the Fighter for very long. The Regeneration Tag is currently quite small--big enough to build a solid Team but not big enough for any real variability.

This also means that there aren’t a lot of Equip options or Z-Abilities for this Fighter to benefit from. Having a Regeneration based Z-Ability also means SP DK Piccolo YEL can’t just jump ship and play on a different Team as easily--that is to say, it’s difficult but not impossible. For this specific reason, it would have been better if his Z-Ability was Element bound. However, if more Dragon Ball Legends does see more Regeneration Fighters, SP DK Piccolo YEL will be a much-needed trendsetter.

Close, But Not Quite Piccolo

SP DK Piccolo YEL isn’t Tagged as a Piccolo variant. The reason for this is some pretty old Dragon Ball lore. Basically, the Piccolo from Dragon Ball Z is the reincarnation/son of the Demon King Piccolo who existed in the original series. This isn’t just a different story arc--this is a completely different person who now needs to get some Equips of his own.

Team Synergy

Regeneration

This Tag is definitely growing and while it isn’t as big as it could be, it has a lot of Z-Ability based Synergy and Fighters that explicitly counter larger Tags like Androids and Saiyans. Even the EX Rarity Fighters within this Tag are still competitive and could bring a lot to a Match, even from the bench.

Color Counter

The Great thing about this Fighter, especially in the midst of a shifting Meta, is that none of his moves or Abilities directly counter a Tag. This opens him up to more Team Building options like being the off-Tag in a Color Counter Team or--and this is risky--adding him to a majority Android, Saiyan, or even Hybrid Saiyan Team simply for what he brings to combat through his Unique and Main Abilities.

Takes your opponent's Dragon Balls and adds them to your own. Effects will change according to how many Dragon Balls they have.

  • 2 or more: Take 2, Gain 2
  • 1: Take 1, Gain 1
  • None: No Effect

Unique Ability

The Demon King Terror

Inflicts enemy with Attribute Downgrade "+2 to substitution count" for 15 timer counts every time character enters the battlefield.
