Despite being quite strong, this Fighter is likely to be overlooked due to being part of the steadily deteriorating Regeneration Tag. But SP DK Piccolo YEL stands out from the crowd for many reasons.
His stats are competitive for his age, well-rounded, and he has a game-changing Main Ability that can steal Dragon Balls from the Enemy Team. His Unique Abilities are great for influencing Enemy switching patterns, and he holds one of the very rare Poison inflicting Strike Arts Cards.
SP DK Piccolo YEL has two very powerful Unique Abilities that are all about switching him in and keeping Enemy switching to a minimum. Anytime This Fighter enters the match, the Enemy Fighter has to stay in combat for 15 timer counts, or they will receive +2 to their substitution count.
This may not seem like much, but tactically it’s fantastic for giving the Player color advantage based switching.
In addition, SP DK Piccolo YEL benefits from staying in because he is healed for 15 counts every time he enters the Match. All this is to say that SP DK Piccolo YEL is self-sufficient while also putting the Enemy at a massive disadvantage.
Dragon Ball Thief
Few things are more satisfying than collecting all but two Dragon Balls before activating this Fighter's Main Ability and jumping right into a Rising Rush. This is a great way to gain an early advantage, but Players should aim for using the Main Ability when their own hand doesn't have any Dragon Ball Cards since this means less or none will be stolen from the Enemy.
The Regeneration Tag is currently quite small--big enough to build a solid Team but not big enough to provide many Build options. Regeneration Fighters haven't been released in some time either, which adds power creep to the reasons not to build a Regeneration Team.
This means that there aren’t a lot of Equip options or Z-Abilities for this Fighter to benefit from. Having a Regeneration based Z-Ability also means SP DK Piccolo YEL can’t just jump ship and play on a different Team as easily--that is to say, it’s difficult but not impossible. For this specific reason, it would have been better if his Z-Ability was color-locked.
Close, But Not Quite Piccolo
SP DK Piccolo YEL isn’t Tagged as a Piccolo variant. The reason for this is some pretty old Dragon Ball lore. Basically, the Piccolo from Dragon Ball Z is the reincarnation/son of the Demon King Piccolo who existed in the original series. This isn’t just a different story arc--this is a completely different person who now needs to get some Equips of his own.
This Tag is definitely growing and while it isn’t as big as it could be, it has a lot of Z-Ability based Synergy and Fighters that explicitly counter larger Tags like Androids and Saiyans.

The return of Legends Road has granted SP DK Piccolo YEL this excellent Equip. The Boosts given to his Defenses are a huge asset to him seeing as he is starting to show his age, and the huge +18% Strike Attack Boost goes without saying.

SP DK Piccolo YEL, unfortunately, has few Offensive options for the last Equip slot, but this does provide significant Defensive Buffs that will help keep him alive and make his passive Heal stand out that much more.
Countdown to Despair
Takes your opponent's Dragon Balls and adds them to your own. Effects will change according to how many Dragon Balls they have. 2 or more: Take 2, Gain 2 1: Take 1, Gain 1 None: No Effect Requirements: 15 timer counts must elapse.
The Demon King Terror
Inflicts enemy with Attribute Downgrade "+2 to substitution count" for 15 timer counts every time character enters the battlefield.
Gradually recovers health for 15 timer counts with each count when character enters the battlefield.
