Overview

SP SSJ2 Trunks BLU was a great Future Fighter at the time of release, but since then better Fighters came out to take his place. At the moment he’s nothing more than a bench Fighter to be used situationally.

He still has a decent kit with a powerful Blast Damage output that can increase throughout the Fight, but his Double Held Blast Cards make him bothersome to use, considering all the powerful Melee Fighters at the Future Tag's disposal.

Strengths

Great Blast Damage

His Blast Damage output is great thanks to his Unique Abilities. In particular, he get a 40% Boost for 10 timer counts each time he gets switched in.

While Blast Cards aren’t optimal compared to Strike Cards, this Fighter can be a huge threat to the Enemy by how well his Crisis-like Abilities Synergize with SP SSJ Gohan YEL -- a frequently used Fighter-- who Buffs the Team once he dies.

Healing Ability

Each time he gets switched out, he's Healed for 10%. Given that this Fighter’s Defense is a bit below average, it’s good for him to have an Ability that increases his overall survivability.

Considering that he has to be switched often to activate his other Unique Ability Boosts, SP SSJ2 Trunks BLU will be able to Heal by a high amount throughout a Match.

Weaknesses

Double Held Blast Cards

The Future Tag has very strong Melee Fighters such as SP SSJ Gohan YEL and SP Perfect Cell YEL, so having the deck filled with Blast Arts Cards lowers their Damage output considerably.

This wouldn’t be a huge problem if other Future cornerstones such as SP Mai GRN didn’t provide Mixed held Arts Cards already.

Difficult Team Fit

While this Fighter has multiple Teams he can fit in, he isn’t the first choice in any of them. Disregarding his held Blast Cards, other Fighters are just flat out better than him.

Additionally, his Z-Ability is quite bad since it only Boosts Blast Defense, hence he’s not even a good bench Fighter most of the time.

Team Synergy

Future

He’s not an optimal Fighter for this Tag anymore. Disregarding the top Meta Fighters that populate this Tag, even as a Blue Fighter he suffers from the competition of SP Youth Trunks BLU, who has a better Damage output, a much better Z-Ability, and holds a Strike Card which fits better this Team’s style.

Hybrid Saiyan

Considering he’s the only strong Blue Fighter with a Z-Ability that Boosts his Tag --although only at 5 stars-- his value is not bad for this Team, however he’s not a  core candidate.

SP Youth Trunks BLU may just be a better fit than him here as well thanks to his overall better kit, although his Z-Ability doesn’t Synergize with Hybrid Saiyans.

Unique Ability

Guardian's Resolve

+40% to Blast damage inflicted for 10 timer counts every time this character enters the battlefield. Restores own health by 10% when this character is switched to standby. Restores own Ki by 20 when this character evades enemy attack with a Vanishing Step.

Flame of Hope

+15% to own Ki Recovery for each downed battle member. +15% to Blast Damage inflicted for each downed "Tag: Future" ally.
