SP SSJ2 Youth Gohan PUR is a reference to one of the most iconic characters from the anime, and his toolkit does an amazing job at replicating that. He needs to take quite a beating in order to unlock his full potential.
This was an incredibly oppressive mechanic to deal with when he was first released, especially since he was so deceptively durable. Unfortunately, SP SSJ2 Youth Gohan PUR has fallen victim to power creep. His stats make him uncompetitive and his Strike-based toolkit doesn’t do much with the most recent Hybrid Saiyans being incredibly strong Ranged Fighters.
Good Melee Toolkit
SP SSJ2 Youth Gohan PUR carries two Strike Arts Cards and usually goes into Strike-oriented Hybrid Saiyan Teams, giving him all the support he needs to do what he does best.
Drawing an Ultimate Move with Main Ability remains one of the more powerful effects and tempo-plays in the entire game, and to top it off, SP SSJ2 Youth Gohan PUR’s Ultimate Move reduces Health Restoration by 100% for 15 timer counts.
While he himself is no longer a PVP staple, this effect does Debuff some of the more popular PVP Fighters in the game.
SP SSJ2 Youth Gohan PUR’s best Buffs come from Unique Abilities that depend on Teammates dying, or taking considerable Damage himself before they come into effect.
This makes them highly situational as they rely on the Team being whittled down with SP SSJ2 Youth Gohan PUR backed into a corner before his Offensive potential can be fully realized.
While his Unique Abilities create the opportunity for a last minute win, all it takes is the Enemy landing a Combo of their own to finish him off.
While SP SSJ2 Gohan PUR’s Defenses used to be serviceable in the past, they have been subject to power creep and are now less impressive. One of the more underrated aspects of this Fighter was his deceptive Defense, which is now not nearly as strong.
Taking Combos from some of the destructive SP Fighters in this Meta generally is not a great idea, and the way his toolkit functions, it will become progressively worse as time goes on.
Hybrid Saiyans have shifted to a Ranged Team Build, but if the Player is missing bench Fighters or simply prefers to use a Strike-based Hybrid Saiyan Team, SP SSJ2 Youth Gohan PUR at least makes a good bench here.
As a Strike-based Fighter with many Crisis Abilities, he should get tons of Strike Attack Buffs and if possible, some survivability so he can’t be killed in just a few Combos. This Equipnis currently the universal choice for most Offensive Hybrid Saiyans.
This is actually a nice choice for giving him a massive Damage Buff to his Ultimate and Special Moves. If rolled, the extra Damage toRegeneration Fighters makes him a nice niche pick against that Tag as well.
This Is Unforgivable
Draw the Ultimate Arts Card "Soaring Dragon Strike" next. Requirements: 25 timer counts must elapse.
+15% to own Strike damage inflicted for each downed ally when this character goes on the battlefield. Increases own Ki Restoration Speed based on the number of downed enemy when this character goes on the battlefield: 1 enemy: +30% to Ki Restoration Speed 2 enemies: +50% to Ki Restoration Speed
Fury: Inflicted Dmg UP
The following effects occur based on the amount of health you have left after being hit: [Health is 50% and up] +10% to damage inflicted for 20 timer counts. [Health is below 50%] +50% to damage inflicted (activates once).
Stackable Unique Abilities paired with his base Strike stats gives this Fighter a burst Combo potential.
Hybrid Saiyans need new non-Future Fighters if SP SSJ2 Youth Gohan PUR is going to see more Combat than he is.
Being able to juggle the Enemy until they die or he gets his Vanish-Step back is great for the current Meta, but his poor Defensive stats make him a liability to Hybrid Saiyans, how are getting left behind even while other Tags are bringing diversity to the Meta.
