Overview

Best friends forever until death do they un-fuse, This Fighter comes from the Majin Buu Saga when the two boys practicing Fusion in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber in order to defeat Majin Buu. The fusion looks like a child and is composed of two fused children, so it seems pretty obvious.

This Fighter is supposed to be a combination of everything that makes Goten and Trunks great, and because of that, he has a few Ability-based call-backs to its unfused variants.

SP SSJ Gotenks PUR is an all-or-nothing sort of Fighter, so when he succeeds, the rewards are enormous.

Strengths

High Damage Output

In addition to being a well-focused Ranged Fighter, SP SSJ Gotenks PUR has a good balance between Damage Buffs, Ki Recovery Speed Buffs, and Enemy debuffs. His primarily Damage Burst oriented toolkit is so powerful that it actually has one-hit K.O potential.

His Special Move debuffs the enemy Vanishing Gauge Recovery by 50%--which is especially effective in the current combat system--his Ultimate Move has a 40% chance to inflict paralysis, and even his Extra Move gives the two Special Arts Card Attacks a 70% chance to inflict faint. Everything about his toolkit is working to make Ranged based Damage Bursts viable.

Ultimate Move

SP SSJ Gotenks PUR has access to an Ultimate Move via his Main Ability, which to this day remains one of the more powerful effects in the entire game. What makes his Ultimate Move that much deadlier is the fact that is has a 40% chance to inflict Paralyze, an Abnormal Condition which can freeze the Enemy Fighter in place and allow for him to continue his assault.

Weaknesses

All or Nothing

As much as SP SSJ Gotenks PUR’s Abilities work to make his Burst Damage effective, it’s important to keep in mind how difficult Burst Damage is to pull off in the current combat system. If a Rising Rush can be countered, so can a couple of heavily Boosted Special and Ultimate Moves.

The same but opposite could be said for his Taunt Unique Ability, which relies on not being hit in order to remain effective. This Ability essentially requires SP SSJ Gotenks PUR to taunt and goad the Enemy into making the first Move so he can sidestep to maintain his Ki Recovery Speed Boost.

Limited Z-Ability

It’s currently unclear how far the game plans to go with this Fusion Warrior Tag. Currently, the only Anime canon characters are Gogeta and Gotenks, so canon-divergent Fusion variants are uncharted territory.

This Z-Ability doesn’t lock SP SSJ Gotenks PUR out of strong teams, but it does make him less effective than he could be on a fully Fusion Warrior Team.

Team Synergy

Super Saiyan

This Fighter can form a dynamic-duo with SP SSJ Bardock BLU, as SP SSJ Bardock BLU greatly rewards both himself and allied Super Saiyans with a Damage Boost just for sharing the Tag.

SP SSJ Gotenks PUR can also alleviate some pain SP SSJ Bardock BLU could face from Green Fighters.

Fusion Warrior

This sort of Team is viable, at least as far as the core line-up is concerned. With SP SSJ Gotenks PUR teamed up with SP Super Gogeta RED and a strong Saiyan or Hybrid Saiyan Tank and the bench evening out the Saiyan/Hybrid Saiyan Synergy ratio, this could actually be an extremely powerful Team with a lot going for it.
