Tier Z

What makes an EX Fighter ‘Z Tier’?

The Extreme Tier list functions a bit differently than the Sparking Tier list. Extremes tend to have a very select few recommended core Fighters. They are generally looked to for support. The Z Tier is for Fighters that are great in the core of their respective Teams and likely have an excellent Z-Ability

EX Nail (Purple)
Explanation

Stats

HP 2387656
Strike ATK 214739
Blast ATK 249309
Strike DEF 154285
Blast DEF 157397

Why this Tier?

  • He’s the primary Purple Fighter for the Regeneration Tag.

  • He does just about everything outside of reliable Strike Attack, and has great Equip choices.

Discussion:

EX Nail PUR provided Regeneration with a solid core Fighter, and goes a long way towards rebuilding the Tag. His stats are among Tier 1 Sparking Fighters and can be supplemented tremendously with the Now it's your turn. Equip.

EX Burter (Yellow)
Explanation

Stats

HP 2189139
Strike ATK 223601
Blast ATK 195647
Strike DEF 142666
Blast DEF 148455

Why this Tier?

  • He actually has a case for being the fastest in the universe, given his multiple Vanish Gauge Recovery Buffs.

  • His Special Move hits like a freight train.

Discussion:

The new Ginyu Force Event has every member of the Ginyu Force available, and EX Burter YEL is arguably the best of the bunch. His Strike Attack can reach extremely high levels through his Equips, and his Special Move not only deals an insane amount of Damage but instantly restores a portion of his Vanish Gauge, making EX Burter YEL very difficult to catch.

EX Recoome (Blue)
Explanation

Stats

HP 2412171
Strike ATK 220534
Blast ATK 215122
Strike DEF 158414
Blast DEF 159996

Why this Tier?

  • His Health and Defenses are both very high, even compared to a SP Rarity Fighter.

  • His Main Ability provides a Team Heal, which is an invaluable addition to the new Ginyu Force Team.

Discussion:

Akin to the anime, EX Recoome BLU is very hard to take down and keeps coming for more the more of a beating he takes. His Strike Attack and durability make him difficult to play against, and his Heal on his Main Ability is a welcome addition to an otherwise fragile Team outside of himself.

Explanation

Stats

HP 2120984
Strike ATK 232435
Blast ATK 247882
Strike DEF 158591
Blast DEF 158591

Why this Tier?

  • His stats and toolkit are absurd.

  • He’s part of one of the better Tags in the game.

Discussion:

EX Whis RED does everything. Offense, Defense, Support, Utility--everything. Outside of a few minor issues, he’s an excellent core Fighter for God Ki Teams. His low Health, however, can get him killed rather quickly.

EX Captain Ginyu (Purple)
Explanation

Stats

HP 2300224
Strike ATK 235283
Blast ATK 235260
Strike DEF 144715
Blast DEF 144715

Why this Tier?

  • He’s an excellent Support Fighter for the Ginyu Force

  • His Main Ability prevents switching for both Teams, although this will usually be advantageous for him.

Discussion:

EX Ginyu PUR is rewarded simply for being paired with other Ginyu Force Fighters, by increasing his own Damage, Ki Recovery Speed, and decreasing the cost of both his Strike and Blast Arts Cards. He in turn gives his Teammates some Damage Buffs when switched to standby, as well as the capability of trapping an Enemy Fighter. All of this is great for an EX Rarity Fighter.

Explanation

Stats

HP 2288612
Strike ATK 212911
Blast ATK 226845
Strike DEF 142565
Blast DEF 149828

Why this Tier?

  • He synergizes exceptionally well with SP Golden Frieza GRN

  • While one-dimensional in his Attack, his dimension is very effective.

Discussion:

EX Jeice RED has a great Blast-centric toolkit, great Equip options, and a great Extra Move. He works well with fellow Ranged Fighter SP Golden Frieza GRN due to his Main Ability changing all Strike Arts Cards to Blast Arts Cards, SP Golden Frieza GRN in return protects him from Blue Fighters

Tier 1

What makes an EX Fighter ‘Tier 1’?

Tier 1 is for Fighters that are not great in the core, but still usable in very specific situations. Alternatively, Fighters in this Tier might have unusable stats PVP wise but might have a Z-Ability that is an absolute necessity for a top Teams bench.

EX Guldo (Green)
Explanation

Stats

HP 2079390
Strike ATK 182117
Blast ATK 218360
Strike DEF 141969
Blast DEF 146269

Why this Tier?

  • His Awakened Card inflicts “Heavy Immobilize” which hits every panel on the battlefield.

  • He’s hard to justify in the core over SP Golden Frieza GRN.

Discussion:

EX Guldo GRN is not very impressive in a Match, but he does carry an almost-guaranteed Heavy Immobilize, a similar effect to inflicting faint. Again, he’s hard to use over SP Golden Frieza GRN, but his Health Z-Ability is a must-have for the bench.

EX Android #17 (Green)
Explanation

Stats

HP 2069200
Strike ATK 211290
Blast ATK 189346
Strike DEF 154295
Blast DEF 151256

Why this Tier?

  • He Buffs Strike Attack and Defense at Z-Ability 1. From Z-Ability 2 and onward, he surpasses EX Android #20 YEL’s Z-Buff potency.

  • Androids actually don’t have a better Strike Defense Buff, so he’s needed on the bench.

Discussion

He's hard to justify in the core now over SP Android #14 GRN, but the top Android Team has 5 great core Fighters, none of which buff Strike Defense. EX Android #17 GRN’s value increases as a result.

EX 1st Form Cell (Yellow)
Explanation

Stats

HP 1867871
Strike ATK 148148
Blast ATK 144624
Strike DEF 104772
Blast DEF 85506

Why this Tier?

  • He owns a highly sought-after Health Z-Ability for a Tag that is trending upwards.

  • He’s entirely unusable in PVP.

Discussion:

Androids have gotten multiple new powerful releases, and his Health Z-Ability will always be necessary for the Tag.

  • He’s entirely unusable in PVP.

EX Zamasu (Green)
Explanation

Stats

HP 2358690
Strike ATK 211185
Blast ATK 236847
Strike DEF 148230
Blast DEF 154219

Why this Tier?

  • His Z-Ability at 5 stars makes him a must-have for the God Ki bench.

  • Despite great stats, he’s underwhelming in PVP and holds two Blast Arts Cards

Discussion:

EX Zamasu GRN’s Z-Ability is excellent, but everything else falls short. He’s a one dimensional Ranged Fighter, can’t reliably lower his Blast Arts Card cost, and a lot of Fighters in his Tag are starting to fall behind. SP SSBKK Goku YEL was the newest edition, and he’s Strike oriented and a bit underwhelming himself.

HP 2167676
Strike ATK 241493
Blast ATK 247453
Strike DEF 145744
Blast DEF 144306

Why this Tier?

Discussion:

EX Chilled YEL is listed as a Ranged Fighter, but does quite a bit for his Teammates--mostly through Debuffing Damage Received whenever he enters the battlefield. He also enables his Teammates’ Blast Arts Cards to potentially inflict Paralyze.

Explanation

Stats

HP 2335217
Strike ATK 216591
Blast ATK 215525
Strike DEF 153571
Blast DEF 153578

Why this Tier?

  • His toolkit might seem like a basic Support toolkit, but every one of his Buffs and Debuffs last a ridiculously long amount of time.

  • He provides a dual Z-Ability for Sagas from the Movies Teams at 5 stars, but SP Goku GRN has bumped him out of the core.

Discussion:

EX Boujack GRN has an argument for one of the best Support Fighters in the game, and he provides a great Z-Ability at 5 stars as well. However, he’s no longer recommended in the core over the much superior SP Goku GRN, so his viability has taken a hit.

Explanation

Stats

HP 1678562
Strike ATK 174327
Blast ATK 186983
Strike DEF 91327
Blast DEF 88628

Why this Tier?

  • His Z-Ability has made him a staple in every Saiyan Team since the game's release.

  • He’s not very useful on the core.

Discussion:

Despite his many shortcomings stats and toolkit wise, his Z-Ability is one of the most valuable - if not the very most valuable - in the entire game to Saiyans.

Explanation

Stats

HP 2090089
Strike ATK 201784
Blast ATK 228866
Strike DEF 134403
Blast DEF 137086

Why this Tier?

  • EX Android #18 PUR’s Z-Ability is the same as EX Android #19 RED, only stronger.

  • Androids have too many other core fighters that Buff Blast Attack or Blast Defense

Discussion:

She’s in a weird spot, her Z-Ability is actually very good but many other Android Fighters already do what she does. She’s still great in the bench if the Player is missing other superior options.

Explanation

Stats

HP 2335318
Strike ATK 237038
Blast ATK 234694
Strike DEF 141769
Blast DEF 144609

Why this Tier?

  • She does a good bit of Damage and permanently Buffs her Teammates when she’s killed, similar to SP SSJ Gohan YEL

  • She’s hard to use on the core of both of the Teams her Z-Ability Buffs.

Discussion:

She’s hard to justify over SP Gogeta BLU and SP Ribrianne BLU in her respective Tags, but does provide a good toolkit in a Match if an additional Blue would be beneficial. She also synergizes well with Boujack variants.

Strike ATK 228895

Blast DEF 138234

Why this Tier?

  • He’s an EX Fighter with SP stats.

  • He has tons of Damage Buffs and Enemy Debuffs, including a Health Restoration Debuff which is perfect in the current Meta.

Discussion:

At his release, EX Evil Buu BLU simultaneously revived and countered the Regeneration Tag, and it’s somewhat incredible that he pulled it off an at EX Rarity. Regeneration has since fallen out of favor, severely crippling his viability.

Explanation

Stats

HP 2300599
Strike ATK 226354
Blast ATK 213496
Strike DEF 158298
Blast DEF 153664

Why this Tier?

  • Her toolkit excels at survivability while simultaneously Buffing her Teammates with every Strike and Blast Card used against her.

  • She has some tough competition for core in Female Warrior Teams as their primary Purple, but is still a justifiable pick.

Discussion:

She has some stiff competition with SP SSJ2 Caulifla PUR, but can still form an incredible Defensive Team when paired with SP Ribrianne BLU. Both are primarily Melee-focused, hold two Strike Arts Cards, and are hard to take down. Female Warriors are dying for new releases, so her stock has been hurt by the drought.

Strike DEF 144602
Blast DEF 145307

Why this Tier?

  • He has serviceable Defenses and high Blast Attack for an EX Rarity Fighter.

  • He’s somewhat similar to SP Mai GRN in the sense that he rewards his Teammates with Buffs when he’s swapped in and out of Combat.

Discussion:

EX Trunks GRN is an excellent Support for Hybrid Saiyan or GT Teams with a focus on Blast Attack. His toolkit is good enough to make up for the fact that his Z-Ability before 5 stars is a bit underwhelming.

HP 2122085
Strike ATK 193458
Blast ATK 246720
Strike DEF 144085
Blast DEF 146961

Why this Tier?

  • Her Blast Attack is among the highest in the entire game and is bolstered tremendously by her Unique Abilities.

  • Her Main Ability not only keeps the tempo going for her Team, but also cripples the Enemy Team by reducing their Ki by 50.

Discussion:

EX Youth Bulma YEL was part of the recent wave of EX Rarity Fighters that are devastating in Combat and can supplement their Team with great Z-Abilities. While Female Warriors don’t prioritize Blast Attack, her toolkit is so good that it can offset that inconvenience. The Tag still appreciates her dual Z-Ability regardless.

Explanation

Stats

HP 2211664
Strike ATK 216389
Blast ATK 247440
Strike DEF 137628
Blast DEF 134921

Why this Tier?

  • His stats and toolkit make him usable in PVP, but only if the Player is missing a considerable amount of core Fighters within the God Ki Tag.

  • God Ki already has access to so many other good Fighters and Z-Abilities, that he has trouble finding a spot on the Team.

Discussion:

EX GoD Beerus YEL has a somewhat similar problem as EX Mai PUR in the sense that he has a good toolkit, but is increasingly hard to bring along due to an anti-Synergistic Z-Ability in a crowded Tag.

Why this Tier?

  • His Anti-Regeneration Unique Ability can make quick work of the Tag.

  • He faces a ton of competition within his Tags as a Purple Fighter.

Discussion:

After his Balance Change, he’s much better than before. He is a nice niche pick against the Regeneration Tag, but still faces a ton of competition within his Tag and is very one-dimensional Offensively.

Blast DEF 146444

Why this Tier?

  • He counters Regeneration Fighters and Synergizes really well with Future Fighters, although this Tag has lost steam.

  • His Defenses and Strike Attack are pretty high, especially for an EX Rarity.

Discussion:

Steady power creep and his ideal Team falling out of favor has lowered his value a bit, but he can still destroy SP UGA Super Buu GRN as long as he avoids SP Perfect Cell YEL.

Stats

HP 2382667
Strike ATK 213698
Blast ATK 215839

Why this Tier?

  • He has exceptionally high Defenses and Health for an EX Rarity Fighter.

  • His Unique Ability enables him to do a lot of Damage to boot, at least until he’s attacked.

Discussion:

EX Lord Slug YEL joins the recent influx of incredibly strong EX Rarity Fighters that can compete with some of the better Fighters in the entire game. While they remain difficult to pull consistently, they perform admirably if acquired.

EX Lord Slug YEL, in particular, is incredibly durable and has some decent Damage and card-destruction utility to go along with it, but has trouble making the core when SP Perfect Cell YEL is the vastly superior option. His Z-Ability is also held by multiple other Regeneration Fighters.

  • Her utility is a little too situational.

Unlike a couple other Fighter’s that were released alongside or recent to her, EX Honey Pan’s Team Support doesn’t come from dying, making her a more reliable asset to the Team.

Explanation

Stats

HP 2311634

  • He Synergizes well with Bardock variants, but that kind of Team is not PVP viable.

Discussion:

There’s no real reason to use EX Tora PUR on the core of any Team whatsoever, but his dual Z-Ability for the popular Saiyan Tag makes him an enticing bench option.

While EX Mai PUR is one of the better EX Rarity Fighters toolkit wise, her off-putting Z-Ability makes her very difficult to use in the core and bench of the best possible Future and Female Warrior Teams due to their heavy emphasis on Strike Attack.

Why this Tier?

  • She has Bleeding Strike and Blast Attacks, and good Support Unique Abilities.
  • Her Z-Ability isn't that great.

Strike ATK 211856
Blast ATK 197317
Strike DEF 132566
Blast DEF 136582

Why this Tier?

  • Upon release, she provides the highest Strike Defense Z-Ability Buff in the game.

Her Buffs Strike and all Damage--perfect or the current Meta--and her Ability to Team Heal and draw a Special Move Arts Card makes her great for setting up Combos. Her death also causes all Enemies to take 30% more Damage for the remainder of the Match.

Stats

HP 1991326
Strike ATK 234160
Blast ATK 198529
Strike DEF 119741
Blast DEF 122115

Why this Tier?

  • EX Cell Jr YEL has an extremely similar toolkit to EX Zarbon BLU.

  • Due to the wealth of dual Z-Abilities Android Fighters have, there’s no reason to use him on the bench.
